United Aerial officially was founded in January of 2015 by Clinton Conroy and Taylor Jacobson. At that time, Taylor and Clint were familiar with different industries: Clint was a project manager with MAPP Construction, and Taylor was an associate landscape designer. However, both had seen the potential use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or "drones") in their respective industries. After drawing up a business plan and obtaining some hardware and software, Clint and Taylor participated in, and won, LSU's venture capitalist competition for a prize of $7,000. Shortly after, United Aerial secured it's first job, performing mapping with FKP architects in Houston, Texas. Clint and Taylor gave a variety of presentations, including LSU college of Art and Design, the American Institute of Architects Conference, and National Public Radio. In mid-2015, Taylor and Clint quit their jobs to devote their efforts full-time to United Aerial.
